Car key cutting and programming service at ARD Locksmith in Little Rock
Vehicle-specific service

The correct key depends on the vehicle and the existing key system

Vehicle keys can look similar while using different blades, transponders, remotes, frequencies, emergency inserts, and programming procedures. The year, make, model, trim, ignition type, and whether a working key is available all affect the correct service. Share complete vehicle information before visiting the shop or requesting mobile service so our team can check the key system and prepare the appropriate next step.

Duplicate a Working Key

A working key can often be copied, cut, and programmed as a spare after the key type and vehicle compatibility are confirmed.

Replace a Lost Key

When no working key is available, the vehicle may require additional identification, code retrieval, access, or programming procedures.

Program a Remote or Proximity Key

Remote buttons and push-to-start functions require the correct electronic key and a programming procedure supported by the vehicle.

Automotive key services we can review

  • Standard metal key cutting for supported vehicles
  • Transponder key cutting and programming
  • Remote-head key replacement and setup
  • Proximity and push-to-start key service
  • Emergency insert blade cutting for supported smart keys
  • Duplicate spare keys when a working key is available
  • Selected lost-key and all-keys-lost situations

Cutting and programming are different steps

Cutting shapes the physical blade so it can operate the mechanical lock or ignition. Programming registers the transponder, remote, or proximity key with the vehicle. Some keys need only cutting, some need only electronic setup, and many modern keys require both.

A key that turns the ignition may still fail to start the vehicle if the transponder is not recognized. A remote may operate the door buttons but still require a separate procedure for engine start. The vehicle and key must be checked before the required steps are confirmed.

Have a working key? Bring it with the vehicle whenever possible. It helps us identify the blade, key style, and functions that the replacement should support.
Clear service process

What to provide for a car key request

For an accurate compatibility review, provide your full name, a good callback number, the complete service address if mobile service is requested, and the vehicle year, make, model, and trim. Tell us whether the vehicle uses a standard ignition or push-to-start system, whether any working key is available, and which functions are needed. A clear photo of the existing key can help when one is available.

1. Identify the Vehicle

Share the full vehicle details, ignition type, current location, and whether the vehicle can be brought to our Little Rock shop.

2. Confirm the Key Situation

Tell us if the request is for a spare, a damaged key, a missing key, remote functions, or a push-to-start concern.

3. Verify and Test

The technician verifies authorization, completes the supported work, and tests the functions included in the confirmed service.

Shop service or mobile service?

Our Little Rock shop is often the best location for duplicate keys, supported key cutting, and services where the vehicle can be driven. Shop equipment and inventory can make it easier to compare the existing key and test the finished result with the vehicle present.

Mobile service may be available when the vehicle cannot be brought to the shop, including selected lost-key situations. Mobile availability depends on the service address, vehicle system, technician schedule, and the equipment required for that request.

Ownership and vehicle access

Automotive key work must be completed for an authorized person. Be prepared to provide identification and proof of ownership or authorization for the vehicle. If the documentation is inside a locked vehicle, tell us before dispatch so the verification process can be explained.

Some vehicles or key systems may require additional documentation, security access, dealer-supplied information, or procedures that are not available for every model. We confirm what can be supported after reviewing the specific vehicle.

Car key cutting and programming FAQs

Do I need the vehicle present?

Yes. The vehicle is normally required for programming, authorization checks, and testing. It may also be needed to verify mechanical operation after a blade is cut.

Can you make a key if every key is lost?

We assist with selected all-keys-lost situations. Compatibility depends on the year, make, model, security system, and available procedures. Provide the complete vehicle details for review.

Can I bring a key that I purchased elsewhere?

We can inspect it, but compatibility cannot be assumed from appearance alone. The blade, chip, frequency, board, and part information must match the vehicle, and some supplied keys may not be programmable.

Does a new key automatically include remote functions?

No. Starting the vehicle, locking and unlocking by button, passive entry, trunk release, and remote start can be separate functions. Tell us which functions the existing key has and which ones are needed.

What should I bring to the shop?

Bring the vehicle, identification, proof of ownership or authorization, and every working key you want to keep active. A prior key or remote can also help identify the system.

How long does the service take?

The time depends on the vehicle, key type, number of keys, required access, and programming procedure. We review the request before confirming scheduling details.
